Morzine, based in the Portes Du Soleil in the Northern French Alps has become one of the most visited MTB destinations in the world. With endless Enduro, Cross Country and Downhill trails this vast area has something for everyone.
The PDS boasts 650km of official marked MTB trails that are all lift accessible. There are twenty four lifts that remain open in the Summer to service the Mountain Bikers, Hikers and general public alike. There are four purpose built bike parks that cater for the freestyle junkies out there who want to whip their way down the hill and fine tune their jumping skills to take back to the trails.
In June, Morzine and the whole Portes Du Soleil hosts the famous MTB Pass'portes du Soleil - an MTB trek in both France and Switzerland in the Portes du Soleil domain ranging from 1000 to 2250m in altitude. The Pass'portes is a mixture of impressive and unforgettable moments, shared sporting memories and a load of laughs! It has to be done (or redone).
The 80 km circuit uses 15 lifts. Different variations will be organized for mountain bikers wishing to cycle up hill. The trek takes one day, and participants can choose whether to ride it on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The 10th edition will be held in Chatel on Friday 28th June, Saturday 29th June and Sunday 30th June 2013.
Morzine boasts the most central position in the Portes Du Soleil and means you can freewheel down to the village from most of the Portes du Soleil ski lifts. In Resort you'll also find many specialist bike shops and professional services to serve and advise you. After a hard day on the hill Morzine also offers some great restaurants and bars to wind down and refuel. Some of our favorites include Chez Roger's bar on the Rue De Bourge and L'taile restaurant in the centre of town.
Many professional bike teams have come to settle in Morzine and some very good World Cup Mechanics are also based here due to the extensive terrain and vast trail area! If you're looking for that perfect holiday destination for your summer MTB trip, Morzine has what you are looking for and if it's not mountain biking there are a host of other activities available to you and your friends or family. We hope to see you in Morzine soon.
